This series began with a close observation of plants in the everyday spaces around me, dried grass, fallen leaves and overlooked vegetation beneath our feet.

During the summer drought in London, I started noticing how plants changed as they dried out and died. Leaves lost their strength, fell, overlapped and tangled together, creating unexpected structures and spaces.

I became interested in what remains after a plant dies, its movement, weight, lines, colour and presence.

Through drawing and painting, I take these forms apart and rebuild them through line, colour, scale and space. The familiar becomes unfamiliar, moving between observation and abstraction.

The series considers how something that has died can still carry presence, and how, through collapse and transformation, it can take on another kind of life.
